Back to School for Amelia

I had to beg and plead for her to buy this dress...the verdict? It's her favorite!

Um...let's try that again.

Much better!

Amelia and her best friends:

Her best buddy Rylee...who unfortunately is in a grade beneath her but only four months younger than her.

Her best buddies from her classroom: Stephanie, Rachel and Amelia....we are missing one. She wasn't there yet. So I dug up an old picture from our back-to-school carnival.

There she is! Sidney, Amelia and Rachel.

I LOVE her class. She has been in the same class with the same kids that she has known since she was born. They are all fantastically WONDERFUL kids with good parents. We have an amazing principal that lets us choose which teacher our kids will have and we get together and conspire.
I am already loving her teacher. When I walked out of the class this morning...and I was the LAST parent to leave...I heard her tell them how amazing they were and how impressed she was with their behavior and manners. She really does have a good class with kids who are excited to be there and parents who want to be involved. I stayed outside the door out of eyeshot because I was adjusting Sophie. She was so tender with those kids.
We have had such GOOD LUCK with teachers thus far. Each year I think the teachers have a lot to live up to from the previous year, but I have yet to be disappointed. I have developed a friendship with most of these teachers and I think I am as sad to see the year end as Amelia is. When we walked onto the school yard this morning, Amelia's teacher from last year came up to her and grabbed her into a hug and then she hugged me. THAT is how amazing these teachers are.
I think a few tears fell on my way out. Maybe I should go back to elementary school.

I'm so glad you have had good luck with teachers because that means we can request the same great ones for Rylee!:) It's so sad to see that they are getting so big, and it is so hard to leave them in someone else's care all day. Thank goodness we have had good luck so far. I hope the good fortune holds out...

You are right. We do have some great teachers and a great principal at our school.

Your first day of school pictures turned out great too. I'm a bad mom! I didn't take a single one. I was too worried about weather or not Kirsti would be able to find her classes and open her locker to even think about a camera.

Yeah for a great first day! That is so great they get to stay with the same kids, well as long as it is a good class I guess! I know exactly the vibe you are talking about new teachers. I'm not sure I got it today from my 1st graders teacher, but hopefully I just missed it. I know what you mean, I think I need to go back to elementary school too!

So how was it? Is she enjoying school? You are so blessed to have a school like that where you can request teachers. Amelia looks adorable in her new dress!
