Random Summer Blogpost
Because I have concluded that summer is kind of boring, blog fodder wise. We have done a lot but nothing that I have to "run right to my computer and blog about." Just kind of taking it easy and enjoying ourselves. Until July when mass chaos is set to spew forth and not end until after the first week of September.
We have been spending loads of time doing this...Jeremy and I absolutely love yard work. It is so relaxing to get our hands dirty and I love the conversations we have while pulling weeds or harvesting vegetables we grew. Both of us take pride in our yard and it is something we hope to pass onto our children. Seeing as how they now have their own garden, I think it may be working.

We went to the traveling Vietnam War Wall. I have been to the one in DC and it is something that you have to see to experience it. Tough guy bike riders touching names and breaking down at the wall. Endless mementos of flowers, letters and medals are left at it's base. It was just as emotional watching people at the traveling wall. It is extremely overwhelming to explain to my kids why we were there and how many men and women died for our freedom.
We have played at many, many parks. They love it best when Grandma comes.
I think this was the ninth consecutive day that Tess has worn her bathing suit. HOURS have been spent in the kiddie pool in the backyard. Mommy is still a little scared of Crypto in our area and is biding her time and stalling over public pools. She will have to get over that when swimming lessons start.

The air quality around here is TERRIBLE and I am having a hard time paying for a gallon of gas that costs more than my favorite frozen beverage at Starbucks, so when we want snacks around here, we have been making our own rather than hop in the car and spend oodles of money and ruin the ozone. How was THAT for a run-on-sentence? My kids LOVE this.
Our niece Em, has been spending a lot of time here while her mom is recovering from a very terrible 15 months and 5 surgeries. We have had lots of fun.
And sometimes Lil' Buckaroo comes over and his cousins dress him up because they just don't know how to play boy.
Time on the computer is scarce these days. We have had art lessons, sleepovers at grandmas houses, trips to the zoo, homemade ice cream, countless trips to the libraries, gobs of play dates, etc that have been filling our time.

This kid is almost crawling. I said almost. If you look closely at the picture, you will see that she does a mean set of pushups on her BIG toe and only her big toe. She is up on all fours and has the leg part down, she is just trying to get her arms to follow suit. I give it until next Wednesday before she figures it all out.
We have also figured out that it takes exactly two marshmallows for me to sweep and mop my kitchen floor on my hands and knees. You can SO tell I am not a first time mom. Sometimes I think about how neurotic I was with my first baby and how I was so by the book and I giggle. I didn't bat an eyelash when I was dipping her pacifier in ice cream when she was two months old just so I could get some quiet.

what fun summer activities. My poor kids havn't done much of anything this summer. Except that we just came home from a family reunion. Camping for three days is about as much as I can handle.
Could you email me your recipe for those cookies or just message me on facebook. They look so yummy.
My summer activity was Traylor in Utah for 2 weeks. Now she is coming home tommorrow and I am way excited.

It's true! The best summers aren't always the best blogging summers--I'm in the same boat. Looks like you are having a great one--those cookies look YUMMY!!!

I'm feelin' ya! Family in town, summer-y activities, conferences. My time is being filled up...and therefore passing much more quickly than I'd prefer. I love summer. I'd even take the heat over shoveling and scraping my windshield at wretched-early hours at this point.
oooh! I want that recipe!
You guys are excellent gardeners! I am so jealous!
It sounds like you are having a fun summer-relaxing, making treats and visiting the library are what summers are all about.
