Our Little Halloween Treat

I have decided if you are going to be born on a holiday, Halloween is the perfect day.

Our sweet princess was born at 12:30am on Halloween. She weighed in at 8lbs 13ozs and is 21 inches long. We are absolutely in LOVE with her.
BIRTH STORY~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was a pretty uncomplicated delivery. My contractions started at 10:00 in the morning on the 30th thanks to my best friend Mr. Castor Oil. I stayed home until about 3:00 when I decided that I could feel a lot more pressure than I was comfortable with at home. We took the girls to my parents home and we were on our way.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~We spent an hour waiting in the lobby and another hour in the observation room. Finally they put me in my L&D room around 6:00. My midwife came and relieved my nerves that I was at a 4+ and 90% thinned and my waters were bulging. I was not going to have to go home disappointed again. I tested positive for Group Strep B and needed to be hooked up to an IV antibiotic for four hours prior to my midwife rupturing my membranes. They were crazy busy and weren't able to get it started until 7:10. I was able to just hang out with my husband and family for the next four hours. My pain tolerance for my contractions go up as my contractions get stronger so it was a breeze to get through. I told my nurse that I would go pretty fast once I started and that I just needed someone to talk me down once I hit transition. I told her I would be begging for drugs but she needed to just ignore my pleas. My midwife came back at 11:10 and snagged my waters. I was fine for about 30 minutes and then transition started. It was the longest transition labor I have been through to date.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~At 12:20 they thought I would still be a while. Um, no. I went into the bathroom and I could hardly walk back to the bed. They weren't quite set up for delivery and I told them she was coming. They kept telling me not to push. I told them that I couldn't stop. My midwife and nurse were frantically putting on their robes and she just came. Things weren't quite ready for her to make her to come, but come she did. I think they were still trying to get things ready as her head was coming out.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~My midwife and nurse were amazing. I seriously think a good L&D nurse makes all of the difference during labor. They were so good to me. DH was so great and supportive. After our sweet baby was born, he was able to tell me how much he realized I meant to him and it was a beautiful moment. Giving birth is so empowering and beautiful. I still can't get over that I grew another life.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~Enjoy! I am off to go and hold my newborn. She will be seven before I know it. I don't want to miss a minute! I apologize for the ~~~, blogger won't let me make paragraphs tonight.
She is absolutely adorable!!! I love all of her dark hair. What a great treat for halloween. You should get a pic of her in a trick or treat bag. So who do you think she looks the most like? Does she sleep pretty good? My 8 pounder slept a lot better than the rest.
Don't you hate it when they tell you not to push? There is no stopping that!! I am glad your midwife was there for the delivery. Way to go Steph!!! I hope you start feeling better soon.
CONGRATS!! She's a beauty. I love the picture of the 3 girls. I am so happy for you. Scarlet was my third and you'd think after two others I would have been prepared for how fast they grow (up) and change. Hold her tight!!!
BTW, I totally called it! I said she was going to born on Halloween! Yay for me!
How much did she weigh and what was her height? Maybe I missed that! I love her cheeks!!
Congratulations! She is so beautiful! Can you believe you survived this whole ordeal? I know I will too but 27 weeks sure seems like a long time away.
Way to go on the natural birth! I did one last time and I'm hoping to do it again this time.
Do I get a prize for guessing her birth date?
Dear Sweetie, thanks for all you went through to get S****e here (Yep! I remember proper blogiquette for predator aversion, aren't you proud?). I was so worried about you during labor and the experience really did make me think about how important you are to me. It is so fun having a newborn at home again and another daughter to brighten my life. Thank you!
Love,
Jeremy
