A Few of My Favorite Things

I have had a frame hanging above my piano for a year. This weekend it was finally finished. It says on it "These are a few of my favorite things" referring of course, to my children. However, lack of inspiration today leads me to take a page from O's book. Today I wandered around my house taking pictures of a few of my favorite things. Here you go.

M's nickname is after her great-great Grandmother. When my mom and her mom cleaned out her home, there were so many neat old things. I found this teacup and saucer and I fell in love with it immediately. It sits on M's dresser. I find that fitting.

There is a sloshing noise in the background of my house. I am eagerly waiting for it to stop. When it does stop, I will have liquid manna on my lips. I am not paid to advertise this, but I wish I were. I have recommended this and bought it for many people. I love my Cocomotion! I love that I can go and pick my daughter up from school and when she arrives home, she can have warm, fresh hot cocoa. I love that when we go outside to play in the snow, I can start it before we go out and when we come back in, it is the perfect temperature. This is my Mormon version of Coffee.

Speaking of being cold and my grandmother. My grandma made my husband and I this afghan when we were married. It is so soft and I love snuggling up in it on cold evenings. It currently has a place at the end of our bed. Every time I look at it, I am reminded of how much time and love were put into making it for us.

While grocery shopping about a week ago, I remembered that I was out of mascara. So I went to the makeup isle of the store. I looked for my usual standby that I haven't been too pleased with as of late. I spied this little gem out of the corner of my eye. I thought it couldn't be any worse than my old gunk. I LOVE THIS MASCARA! My lashes are long and so pretty when I wear this. It puts just enough on that I look like I have thick Hollywood lashes, but not the fake, clumpy kind. Run, don't walk to get this!

Winter is getting long. VERY LONG! I love flowers. Absolutely LOVE them! On our piano is a sweet little ceramic vase with dried flowers in them. YELLOW dried flowers! It makes me smile when I walk past them.

Last, my favorite stool. My dad made this for a vanity when I was a little girl. It used to be padded and covered. When I was a teenager, I took it apart and painted it peach. Then when I was a little older, I painted it blue. It has been used as a stool for when I paint rooms, it is used when I need a place to set a project that is still wet from painting. My kids use it to help me bake cookies or make dinner. It has been the support system for many, many forts made out of blankets and pillows.
So I am curious. What are your favorite things? What is it that makes you smile? What brings back warm memories of your family or childhood? What are those things you just can't live without? Post on your blog and leave me a comment. I am working on getting Mr. Linky going and then I can move your links to that.

Very cool, but just as a word to the wise you might want to rethink the irreplaceable teacup and saucer on the little girls dresser...Once upon a time both my sister and I had teacups from our great-grandmother. Now only one of us does. I think my mom was more devestated when she found out.

I love this. I haven't done mine. I will have to put some thought into it. I love the tea cup and saucer set. It totally looks like a little girl's room. Even though like sketchy said, it might get broken. I totally didn't know you were Mormon. My kids would love this hot cocoa machine. That is their favorite thing to do with my husband it make hot chocolate. I need to look into that. I haven't seen the mascara, but if you know ANYTHING about me, you KNOW that I LOVE make-up. I'm about due some new mascara. I'm going to look for this one.

Ok, just Saturday night I was looking at the cocomotion on amaz0n.com, saved in my wish list until I could figure this one out: can you use water instead of milk?.
I love the mascara, I bought mine 2 months ago ,and I'm happy, no lumpy lashes! :P

I love that pink teacup and saucer, cute. And that afghan that your grandma made.
What a fun post Stephanie, I’ll have to do one.

Sketchy: I don't have to worry with this daughter. It is #2 I have to worry about. #1 is as good as gold, #2 is a different story.

Nicole: Yes I am Mormon, but probably not the best example. I say bad words, I yell, I get angry and I secretly covet coffee. Shhhh....don't tell! Seriously, you HAVE to try that mascara!!!!

Suzanne: I can't wait to see what you do come up with!

Char: I absolutely can't wait to see what you find. It's the new version of Mr. Linky. Post away!

Lei: The more I hear from you, the more I love you!

UTMommy: Isn't it funny how something like that can have so many memories. I keep telling myself that I am going to throw it out and have my dad make me a more updated version of it, but I can't! I even wanted to repaint it but once I pulled the paints out, I couldn't bring myself to do it. I have sworn to leave it alone.

Tori:): I want to see your list too!
NCS, You can use water. As a matter of fact, I was making Jell-O the other day and my microwave was being used by something else. I threw water in the Cocomotion and it heated it beautifully.

When you make hot chocolate, you just have to add more hot chocolate mix to the water. We do a hot cocoa bar at our house and pull out all sorts of flavored hot cocoa mixes and creamers and we will just heat water.

I have tea cups from 3 different grandmothers that I treasure, too. This is a fun idea for a post! I'll have to try to do it, although I haven't been blogging as much lately.

I'll have to do a favorite things post one of these days. I find them very interesting.

The tea cup is precious. I love it!

I've never heard of Cocomotion in my whole life. LOL. You certainly have made me interested though.
They should definitly pay you for that endorsement. LOL.

Thanks for the mascara recommendation. I need a new one and am so boggled by the choices.
