A bunch of stuff

I want to thank all of you so much for your kind words about our dog. I tried to get to most of your blogs to tell you personally that I appreciate you more than words can express. I missed some, so for that I am sorry, but I want you to know that the kindness you have shown me will not be forgotten anytime soon.

I just haven't felt like blogging. I have definitely hit a bloggy block. I have been busy too. Little T just doesn't know what to do without her big sister home. I have been entertaining a two-year old that has never had to play by herself. I don't think she knows how to just sit and play alone. We have some serious training to do.

My house is slowly getting cleaned. I have pulled out the cleaning card. What's her name did a "Quick, What's" on her blog about what cheers us up. This is one that gets me through my rough spots. Today I cleaned out my closet, my dd's closet, straightened drawers, and rearranged and sorted and switched toys out in the playroom. Sunday I rearranged my kitchen cabinets and switched my kitchen up a bit. I get uncomfortable if a room is the same too long. My husbands only household job is to empty the dishwasher. I might have taken just a tiny bit of delight in watching him try to find where everything went. My aunt calls this "malicious joy." I like the cheer-me-up cleaning card.

Today was high school reunion day. I took my daughter to the children's museum where I used to work. I ran into two girls from high school there. Nicolle and Nanette. Neither one of them talked to me in high school. Both of them came running to say hi at the museum. Motherhood is the great equalizer. None of our husbands have glamorous jobs, but jobs that enable us to stay home. None of us had perky body parts (take THAT goooogle search engines) anymore. We all had a *few* more pounds than we did in high school. We all had kids that were making us crazy. I remember when I worked at that museum thinking how when I was a mom, I would never be one of those moms that just sat there and watched their child destroy a room while I sat and chatted with other moms. I would play with my kids. I should never say never.

We took our kids to a planetarium tonight for Family Home Evening. During the star show, they outlined Cassiopeia. Little two-year old T yelled out "Dat's a W!" We were so proud.

When we got home, I heard from another friend from high school, Cathy. Apparently she and her husband they moved back to town. I called the number she gave me, but it was no longer in service. I hope she calls back.

I should be commenting on all of your blogs but, I am exhausted. This body has not been to bed before midnight ONCE this summer. Waking up at 6:30 in the morning is KICKING MY BUTT! I cannot believe how lazy I have gotten over the summer. Fall has been my favorite season, but I might have to rethink that now that I don't get to sleep in anymore.

I will begin reading when my eyes stop seeing things in double and I am sure I won't drool on my keyboard. My comments might actually make sense then. So blogland, I bid you goodnight.

I'm sorry you haven't felt like blogging. I totally know how you feel. I usually try to write funny and entertaining blogs but all summer long when I sit down to write I get sad and feel like talking about deep, sad things. People don't want to hear my whining all the time, I'm sure! Hopefully it will come back to you though!

Yay on the clean house. Wanna come clean mine? I'm LOVING malicous joy. That's hilarious.

"Dat's a W!" How cute!!!

I can't wait till my little one starts reading with us. She's 18 months now and she can sit still for a board book but that's about it. Frankly we're disappointed that she doesn't know her ABC's yet and we've taken to exiling her to the portacrib so she can't torture us while we read! It's distracting to have my nose picked while I'm trying to read about the holocaust to the older kids.

Ooops! I forgot this was a comment and not a blog!

I hit a little Bloggy Block a couple days ago, too. I am just trying to get back into it. It's good to take a breather, then come back to it when you're ready! I am sorry to hear about your pup, too. They are like people.

I am sorry about Dusty. I guess I missed that post. No wonder you don't feel like blogging...I would feel totally sad, too.

I've recently been in a blogging funk, too. There's just been so much to do, that when I finally get some time for myself, I'd rather nap. I hope you don't stay in yours for long. I enjoy reading your posts!

OK, what's with the blogging funk? I've been in one too! Maybe it's a season-changing thing.

LOL at "Whats-her-name" - thanks for the link.

I have exactly one week until the getting everyone off to school thing starts. Not looking forward to it.

Take some time and rest. We have to remember we are not obligated to blog.

I'm really sorry to hear about Dusty.

When life gets busy we just need to take a break. I don't think I've been to bed before midnight either. It gets so wearing.

Have you read Marley & Me? It's a wonderful book about "life and love and the world's worst dog". I think you will enjoy it. The author John Grogan was a coworker of my brother's in Florida. It's always sad when a family pet dies.

oh sure,I finally come to comment and I have to be #13. I think we all have moments when we're the parents we swore not to be. Mine come at 7 each morning when I turn on PBS kids and curl up on the couch. 6:30 school days are going to kill me.

#14 to say, Go T!

I think we all understand. Seems like your busy on top of settling after school started -- we are all there right now!

Take some time and regroup....

Blessings! :)

Isn't it funny how AFTER high school people who NEVER talked to you suddenly think they're your best friend!?
