Alone

I am never alone. I mean that, I am never alone. As most of you know, my husband works out of our home and I have two fairly young children. I love them all dearly. Let me say that again...I AM NEVER ALONE!

The reason for the above paragraph is so that you know I mean it when I tell you that I GET TO BE ALONE!!!! Do you know how long it has been since I have had time ALL BY MYSELF?!?!?! AGES!!! My DH has family reunions all this week. Tomorrow we have one with all of his extended family. Sunday through Tuesday is one with just his siblings and his mom and her husband (cept for you Jan...SOB! What will I do without you now that Stacy isn't there?!?!?), and Wednesday is one with his sibs, mom, her DH and his kids. I have had enough family togetherness just THINKING about it!!!

So how do I get to be alone you ask?

I can't find a substitute for my primary(Sunday School) class!!!!

Normally I would be devastated that noone is willing to take my class, but this demands that I have to come back from the reunions on either late Saturday night or early Sunday. DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS?!?!!

1. I can listen to my music...no WIGGLES, no Little People, no Disney...as loud as I want.
2. I can dance around in my underwear and sing...as loud as I want.
3. I can eat chips and chocolate and have NOONE ask me for any!
4. I can take a shower without kids knocking on the glass door to tattle.
5. I can poop without ANYONE walking in.
6. I GET THE ENTIRE BED TO MYSELF...no two-year old coming in during the middle of the night and pushing me off the bed.
7. I can fill up the ginormaous bathtub and not have to worry about taking up all of the hot water so that the kidlets can get their baths, run the dishwasher and a load of laundry.
8. I get SOLE control of the remote controls.
9. I can stay up reading as late as I want without DH wanting me to go to bed.
10. I can sleep in and NOT make breakfast.
11. I can eat the sugar cereal for breakfast that I tell the kids they can't eat.
12. I really wouldn't, but I could.
13. I can remember what silence sounds like.

Today thirteen is my lucky number. WaHOO!!!!!!!!

So fess up! What would you do if you could be TRULY alone for a day? You are NOT allowed to say housework!!!

  1. Sleep in! That's what I miss! I would completely hog the bed and lounge around ALL day in my jammies! That's my dream, but it seems that is NOT my lot in life! Have fun being alone! *so jealous!*

  2. I don't get a whole day to myself but every once and awhile I get a friday evening to myself. I spend my time watching a good movie without interuptions and then take a long hot bubble bath. Oh and I can fix what ever I want to eat for dinner which is usually something oriental, since none of my family likes it.

I hope you enjoy your day all alone, but be warned there will be times that you will miss the sounds of the children. I know from experince.

  3. BLOG BLOG BLOG. :) I'm so lame.

I'd also watch movies and cross stitch, call friends, and hang out in my jammies because I can. And eat stuff that's bad for me.

  4. Sleep in- definitely. And maybe go shopping. I'm not a big shopper, but getting a chance to try on clothes without my 2 year old opening the dressing room door... Oh how nice!!
Oh and Kudos to you for trying to find a sub for your primary class. I'm in the primary pres. and we have so many flakes that just don't show up and never attempt to find a sub. You rock!

  6. Oh, lucky you! And I am so impressed you are so faithful in teaching your class! Your Primary presidency must love you!

I would sleep in, eat chocolate without having to sneak it, and read all day outside on the porch or on a quilt in the shade.

  7. Read. Oh--and blog.

The only alone time I get is when my husband goes out of town on business and I get the kids to bed early. So I guess I'm not technically alone, but it's close enough. I always stay up WAY too late, though.

Thanks for the comment on my blog. I'm always glad to find a new friend. :-)

  8. I totally know what you mean. I feel like I haven't been alone in 10 years. I LOVE IT when my husband will take all 3 kids even for a couple of hours. I DO NOT do housework.

Like Naddin, I Blog! Or pracitce piano, or just lay in bed and read something, sipping on a glass of ice water. And sleep, yes, sleep is very important.

Enjoy your day, I am jealous! I am travelling with the 3 by myself right now while Guapo is home ALONE. :)

  9. SLEEP LATE. And then lay in bed and watch a movie in its entirety in one sitting.

To answer your question - we did the banner in a paint program, which Hubby is very embarrassed about and didn't want me to tell you because most people use photoshop by now. Then through trial and error we figured out where to insert it in the header section of my template. We had to upload it like a photo to get the html first though. Does that make sense?

  11. I'd sleep in and then go shopping ALONE! That just sounds Heavenly.

Then I would come back and scrapbook, and eat junk.

    Enjoy your time.

And you are a great teacher, wish we had more like you in our ward.

  12. You lucky duck!
See? when you are faithful in your calling, the blessings will come :)

It'll all get better, I promise. Now that the kids are older I get LOTS of time alone. And it's sweet: I stay in my PJs, I eat right out of the cereal box (SHHH! don't tell anyone), blog, pretty much I play on teh Internets all day long, without anyone interrupting.

    Enjoy your ALONE day

  13. I would totally take a nap and eat in bed while watching something on TV. It would be a great day and then I would miss my kids and start to wish they were home so it would fill up the noise void. I know I am weird. I just don;t like being all alone for long. I think it goes back to my childhood or something. Ha! Have fun on your alone day!! Eat some chocolate for me!:)
