For Letter or For Verse

Okay, skip that verse part, but there is a letter game going on, and I want to play. The Mama gave me the letter A, and here are the rules:
Comment on this entry and if you'd like to play, I will give you a letter. Write ten words beginning with that letter in your blog, including an explanation of why you chose it, and then pass out letters to those who want to play along.

Here goes!

1. Awful. Awful baby names. What are parents thinking?!?!?! A girl I used to work with just named her baby Navey. I have friends and family who have named babies London, Londynn, Tallon, Medea and Aurora Belle. I like to browse the local hospital websites to look at the WebBabies and their names. Even some of the "alternative" spellings get me rolling! Some of my all time favorites are Ocea, Taysen, Paridys (Paradise), Ruger, Denalli(after the SUV?!?), Race, Remington, Creed, Lennix, Jersee, Kiwi, Rigo, Emmersin, Daislyn, Akkadian, Nykolus, Ahylis and poor little Persophone Sunshine. If any of your kids are named these things, I am so sorry for offending you, but seriously.

2. Anise. I know it's a spice, but I always feel like I am being a little naughty when I say it. Anise.

3. Astibule. I just planted these triangular shaped flowers in my front yard. LOVE them!

4. Amelia Bedilia. Love the books, love the girl, love the name. Isn't Amelia such a classic, pretty name. A non-made up name, non-weird spelling name.

5. Aluminum. I can never say this word without repeating it in my head first a couple times so that it doesn't come out "alumninum".

6. Apology. This is why my post is happening at 3:30 in the morning. DH and I had a disagreement before bed. I can't get my mind to turn off about it. I was hoping this would help and I could go back to sleep. WRONG!!! I want an APOLOGY from him (dear, I hope you read this!). I am right, he is wrong. Well, DUH!

7. Africa. I don't know why. I don't want to visit that country. The word is just flopping around in my brain. I don't know why.

8. Adobe, as in photoshop. I just tweaked my very favorite picture in it. You may remember my little girl's tap shoes. I made it black and white and kept the ribbons red. I have never done this before.****Patting myself on the back...Good job Steph***

9. Amy. My friend Amy. I need to call Amy back. Amy's two little boys broke out with the chicken pox today. She is having "chicken pox" parties all week. Amy had four kids in three years. Amy is going to Heaven.

10. Stupid A$$. The name that I call said Husband in my head when I am down here blogging and I would rather be upstairs sleeping. My apologies to the non-occasional curseword community.

There you have it. A look into my twisted, dull and tired mind. Anyone else want to play?

I think I can sleep now.

I agree about baby names. My husband once met someone in the baby ward of the hospital who had just named her baby Candida. As in yeast infection. What was even funnier, is her room mate had just named her son after another "womanly" infection. Unfortunately, I don't remember that one. I don't think it was "Trichamonis"! Hope you and hubby have made up!

Haha! love the Awful baby names! Nettie's post above is pretty funny..Candida? YUCK.
Anise is pretty funny too. I feel like I'm back in grade school chuckling in the back of the room...anise, anise....hahaha!

I totally agree with the name thing too. What is the deal with making it up? You would think that there are enough normal, unmade up names to go around! Thanks for stopping by!

LOL! The baby on the cover of Parent's magazine this month is named Cassiopeia. I thought that was pretty Awful. Hopefully they just call her Cassi.

LOVE what you did with the tap shoes picture!

I want to play!

Funny post! I was reading the baby name thing thinking, she must live in Utah. Sure enough, I look at your little pic, and there is: Utah. Why is that? I know people do it all over the country, but it seems Utah parents really dig giving "alternative" names. My oldest was born there but she has a fairly normal name.

I'll play! Send a letter my way!

Gabriela: What is it about Utah? Hmmmm. Okay, you get B.

Why the funky names in Utah? Well there are so crappin' many babies born here per capita that ya have to distinguish the wee critters SOMEHOW!

Personally I like the names "Talon" and "Ruger" for a boy. I always wanted to name a baby boy "Ryker," but Dadguy claims that he's so much of a geek folks would think that he named the kid that because he was a "TREKKIE GEEK!" and apparently that's unacceptable. All these new flippin' Star Treks... who can keep up with it all? I guess it's good that we have only girls.

Stephanie, you and your other commenters totally put a smile on my face this morning.

I need something to write about today, would you assign a letter to me?

Hope things are better with your husband.

Ok #10 made me laugh. And baby names? I can give you a ton that suck. I do teach school after all. I did have a Persephone a few years ago. I did the letter on my blog today too.

What a fun post. I had to laugh. I thought some of those names were funny. You'll have to check my post later. I asked itybty to give me a letter since I read her post first. Good luck to you and your DH and hope all will work out ok.

Fun game! I love your baby names list. I work in registration at a hospital and there are some wild ones that come through. I especially hate it when they take a normal name but spell totally wierd: Stephanie = Steffenieny?

I would love to play too. Send me a letter.

Handiemom: I think we should play a game called "how many ways can you spell Brittany". I am giving you the letter R. Have fun! I can't wait to read what you have to say!

Great word game. I had Dawnyel (Rubbauneiesluva) give me a letter to do this... she gave me "P". BTW... I had to laugh at the whole name thingy. My sister has a daughter named "Brytnee" and a son named "Nickolus." Weird-spelled names just really bug me!

I hope all is well with you and your hubby now.

I love your post! I thought I was the only one the couldn't sleep after dh and I disagree. He is snoring ZZZZZ's and I can't sleep, so not fair.

I wanna play, give me a letter.

Jane: I am so glad I am not alone. Our brains need to come with and "off"button. Your letter of the day is P

i taught a girl named chastity... what i can't handle are accent marks and apostrophes inserted at random name junctures-- or names that the pronounciation can in no way match the letters spelled out- even using every irregular vowel rule in the book

definitely agree about the baby names. And I've been known to let the ocassional curse word slip, so no judgment from me!

Hey Steh I got my letter list up for C. Come and check it out. :)

Oooooh, can I have a letter?

(Cassiopeia is pretty, but is just as bad as naming your kid "Big Dipper" or "Orion"...I know an Orion!!)

Stephanie said...

Soleclaw: Thanks for visiting and thanks for your comments. Your letter of the day is G. Good luck!
