The New Year

I have been thinking all day about what I should write in my New Year's post. Unfortunately, nothing came to mind. I know that What's her name and Suzanne both did a "year in review" and I thought about that, but realized that I did nothing during January, February and April of last year. There went that idea. Then I thought about my New Year's resolutions, but I thought you really didn't want to read about something that I am going to not even remember next week. So instead of all of that mumbo jumbo, you get to read my ramblings.

I started out my day organizing. I really wanted to start this year off right. I cleaned out almost every cabinet in my kitchen. I de-junked. I have a bulk toilet paper box in my kitchen full of stuff waiting to be donated. It is such a cleansing feeling. Santa left me a label-maker in my stocking. Everything in my house now has a label, whether or not it needs it.

I cleaned out my car today and I found some items in the trunk that I had forgotten about. Four years ago I started a Santa collection. It has been slow going, I only had seven. I want to collect enough to surround my fireplace. I have been looking for mostly old-fashioned Santas'...the more beat up, the better, however I didn't want broken ones. I had a night to myself last week and I went to some thrift stores. I hit the vintage jackpot. I found some vintage-type fabric to make the girls some aprons. The fabric will look so cute with some ric-rac. I also found a hat box for M's room. It was the perfect size for her Polly Pockets. I also found a Bessie Pease Gutzman print "The Lullaby". I am going to paint and distress the frame and hang it in her room. I walked down the Christmas isle and found a Santa forest. I bought six Santas at $.50 a piece!!! I have also been increasing our book supply. I found a copy of Little Women and Island of the Blue Dolphins...both childhood favorites of mine. So I moved all of these from the trunk of my car and now I am replacing the junk I just got rid of. I guess that is the way it goes.

That's all you get tonight.

What great finds! Thanks for coming to visit. I really don't watch the news either, mostly get stuff as I skim through the newspaper. If you haven't heard, I don't think I'll disillusion you with details.

STEPHANIE!! I wondered where you went. :) Glad you are back. Seems like Blogger was giving many grief for a couple months with commenting.

Cute blog!! I've never read Island of the Blue Dolphins, how lame am I? Maybe I'll have to get it.

I definitly think we should start a support group. I need all the support I can get. It's so frustrating that I have that much to lose. Oh well.
