The Garage Hypothetical

I have a hypothetical question for you. If a husband and a wife have an agreement that he is in charge of the outside and she is in charge of the inside, who gets the garage? It may have three walls but there is no A/C, heating or running water. There is also an entire wall that opens to allow the air/wind/snow/heat/neighbor children in.

Also if it is part of the outside and she spends all morning cleaning it out, what does he owe her?

Totally outside.

He owes you an hour massage.

Outside, unless there's carpet and a TV in it. :o)

I'd say diamonds.

I guess it depends on who has the majority of junk in it....(which in my case would be the child!)

I say he gets to clean it out the next time it gets cluttered and messy again! (Taking turns?)

The garage is outside-- however, organizing the garage tends to go better if the wife does it.. I'm so particular when it comes to certain things, that I'd just rather do it myself... even if it means the garage.
If there are tools, tool boxes and cabinets for the husbands stuff-- then he should organize this and keep it that way. All in all.. it becomes a team effort.

If you do it all, I'd request a night for him to take the kids and you go shopping and get a pedicure!

LOL!! I am going to be a weirdo here and say that the woman has too much other stuff to care for and HE should be in charge of the garage. However, if said woman cleans out the garage, HE is at her mercy for an indefinite period of time, because it is HARD work!!! LOL - can you tell I've been there done that????

I consider it outside too...especially since in our case besides some storage boxes most of the stuff out there is stuff his to take care of the outside!

That's tough. I would think that *he* owns the garage - but - I usually find that I'm the one cleaning it. Except for his tools - he puts those away.

What does he owe me? Hmmm. He's the one that usually cooks around here - so I think it's a draw.

Totally an outside job.

I say he owes you a nice date. And HE plans it, even gets someone to watch the kids.

Luckily at our house it's a no-brainer.... his. But why am I the one that vacuums up the bugs? And when have I even gotten a thanks? Geez, I'd take any of the above suggestions for payment.

OUTSIDE! And I would give him one freebie - but next time he owes you BIG time!!

I say one freebie since apparently he "forgot" this vow at the wedding and maybe he was just nervous. And, plus doesn't it look SO much better now that YOU cleaned it? :)

Oh it is so husband territory. He owes you the whole inside now.

I'm with Dawnyel, it belongs to whomever has the most junk in it. Which is good for me because I am a tosser and he is a saver (actually a cling-er). If we were on Clean Sweep it would totally be him crying through it. Actually he'd never agree to be on Clean Sweep...

I agree with Ity. It goes to whoever cares enough to do something about it at our house, and has the time to do it. Sometimes, its me, sometimes, its him. If you try to keep track of who owes who, you will always feel shortchanged and put out. Besides, laundry and mopping is supposed to be "my area" and I can't tell you how often I've been grateful he pitched in in those areas without being asked!

I say he gets to clean all the bathrooms for a month, but after reading Ity and Nettie, it may be better to just take the high road.

He gets the garage. Everybody knows that ;)
If she spends all morning cleaning it, he owes her a massage (which includes foot massage).
