My Life Monday...The Story of Us

Rachelle is so fun. She has given us all ideas for posts. It makes it easy on my brain since it has been in a creative rut as of late. Thanks Rachelle!

My husband was the answer to a prayer. I had just been dumped (I never found out why) by a boyfriend that I thought was "the one"...I never did get closure to that. On the rebound I went out with a man that had been my Sunday School teacher since I was 13 (yes, he was ten years older than I was). There was no chemistry there. I was devastated because of that. I remember kneeling down one night right after I had gone out with the latter and praying. I gave an ultimatum, send him now because I was exhausted from dating, or I would be done and not date again until I after I served a our church...I know, I know. But I was angry, remember? After that prayer, I decided I was never going to look at a man again.

Anyways, to make a short story short, I was signed up to take aclass known as "Preparing For A Celestial Marriage", I had been registered for this PRIOR to breaking up with that boyfriend. I was supposed to take it with my friend Taryn, however, she dogged me. A dog which I will always be thankful for, with her there I may never have talked to him. Jay (nickname) was supposed to take the class with his friend Doug...Doug dogged him too. Thanks Doug! I went into the class and there were two seats left. I took one and Jay walked in right after me--talk about a hint from the big guy upstairs! I offered to say the opening prayer, he offered to say the closing prayer, and play the piano (we have always had a competitive thing happening). We were separated into groups and he and I were the only ones in our group that would talk, so we talked with each other. We have been joined at the hip ever since (seriously, he works from home). A friend told me once that she knew he was the one that I was going to marry because I told him all of the things that I used to tell her. I think I knew in my heart the instant I met him that he was the one. I even cancelled two dates that first weekend to be with him.

The day after he popped the question, we went up to our teacher and showed him my ring. He said "Congratulations! How was the wedding?" He had thought all this time that we were engaged. We must have been made for each other.

I met him, dated, became engaged and married in a 6 month span. Around a decade later, some ups, some downs, some kids, and four moves, I love him more than I did the day I married him. He is the best! He recognizes his shortcomings and tries to be a better person. He loves me even with all of my faults. He spoils me rotten. I couldn't have hand-picked a better daddy for my kids. I really feel like the luckiest woman in the world.
